Placer County Libraries face a
The Placer County Library System is chronically underfunded. In the 2016-17 fiscal year, the Library System was forced to close 2 branches due to underfunding. An increase in the Library budget of $1.3 million dollars for fiscal year 2017-18 will provide a sustainable funding level that avoids closures and provides Library Administration with sufficient funds to modernize all branches with enhancements to staff, collections, facilities and programs. Jennifer Montgomery, District 5 Supervisor, has always been a champion of sufficient funding for all libraries, but we need to make our voices heard in every District to change priorities by making it clear that Placer County residents value their libraries without distinction by location or size and want sufficient funds spent to ensure they are the modern, clean, well-staffed and well-equipped places we need.
HOW TO TAKE ACTION
TALK to your friends and neighbors and ask them to add their voices to the Library cause and help convince our Board of Supervisors to provide a $1.3 million dollar increase in the library budget in the 2017-18 fiscal year.
Every LETTER and every e-MAIL help to change County priorities and convince the entire Board of Supervisors to provide sufficient FUNDING FOR ALL LIBRARIES and not just those in their own District.
Obtain POSTCARDS and/or PETITIONS located in our bookstore (right of library entrance). Have them signed and RETURN by April 23.
