The Rocklin Friends of the Library participated in the Big Day of Giving on May 3.

The Big Day of Giving is a 24-hour giving challenge and celebration of philanthropy.  The community is asked to put their money where their heart is.

Our goal was to raise $3,000 to purchase multiple copies of popular titles of adult, teen and children's books (AKA "Lucky Day Books").  We were able to reach our goal despite problems with the donation portal.  Thanks to all who helped us to reach our goal.

For anyone not able to donate on that day, you can still make a donation at

The Rocklin Friends of the Library want to thank everyone who has supported us in 2015.

Our most significant accomplishment of 2015 was increasing our membership. This is important.  We need to show the Placer County Board of Supervisors the value of the Rocklin Library.  Recent cuts in library hours and possible closures have made community support a top priority.

In June, we held a wine reception to bring more public awareness to our organization and to gain new members. We also held a clothing drive with ReUseIt and made almost $400.00.

On October 2, we participated in the Rocklin Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament and were able to raise $15,700 to purchase a computer center for the children’s section of the library.

What part can you play with the Rocklin Friends?   We need volunteers to help out with fundraising events, assist in the book sale room and Surplus Books Sales, and become a part of the Board in providing direction for our organization.  Additionally, you can support us though your membership which helps to support library services. There is no commitment beyond annual membership.

Beginning in 2016, members will be able to attend our Preview Surplus Book Sales and can fill a bag with books for only $2.00.

We encourage you to attend one of our meetings  in 2016. We meet the  second Tuesday of each month in the Community Room in of the Rocklin Library at 10:00 a.m.  Our meetings are open to the community and we encourage you to bring a friend.

Looking back on 2015, it was quite a successful year. Our success would not be possible without our members and the great community support.  We look forward to 2016.
